Title tags are one of the many things the Slim SEO plugin will automatically generate for you, but there will probably come a time when you will choose to add your own custom title tag instead of the one Slim SEO provides.
This article will show you how to add title tags in the Slim SEO plugin.
How to Title Tags in Slim SEO
- To get started, log into your WordPress Dashboard, then install and activate the Slim SEO plugin.
- After the plugin has been installed, select which existing page or post you want to optimize.
- From within a post or page, scroll down to the bottom until you see Search Engine Optimization. Find the Meta title box.
- Enter your desired title tag, then click Save draft in the upper right-hand corner of the page or post.
*Slim SEO can also be used on new posts or pages, but it is recommended that you create your content before optimizing a page for SEO.
Title Tag Length in Slim SEO
When you enter your title tag in Slim SEO, the plugin provides real-time feedback on the length of the meta title. Slim SEO sticks to standard SEO best practices, suggesting you keep your SEO titles to 60 characters or less.
As long as you stick to that rule, Slim SEO will display a green check mark next to the Meta title box. Exceed the recommended 60-character limit, and Slim SEO will replace the green check mark with an orange exclamation point.
If Slim SEO gives you an orange exclamation point, that means you need to make your title tag shorter.
Now you know how to add title tags using the Slim SEO plugin.
